Headteacher's Update 23 July 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for supporting your young people this week, as they undertook lots of different activities. Today was an opportunity to reflect on the last year in our assemblies and to celebrate all that students have achieved.

We wish you all enjoy a lovely summer break, whatever your plans. We look forward to seeing all students on Monday 8 September.

What’s going on in school:

  • Students took part in our annual sponsored walk up Lose Hill to Castleton on Monday, raising money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). We had a wonderful day in the hills and for the most part, the weather was kind to us, only raining as we were well on our way back to school. Over £1000 was raised in total – a fantastic achievement by our school community. Thank you to everyone who donated.

  • Sports Day was a fantastic success, and all our students showed true team spirit, getting involved in making banners and logos, taking part in events and cheering on competitors. It was wonderful to see everyone dressed in house colours and showed a true sense of belonging to our school community. Well done to Mam Tor, who were the victors of Sports Day.

  • Enormous congratulations to the cast and crew of ‘Faithful – The Musical’. Two outstanding performances took place at Bradwell Memorial Hall on Saturday, with over 180 people attending. The musical was written, produced, directed, choreographed and staged by HVC students – they did the entire thing themselves from start to finish and the result was amazing. They should be extremely proud of themselves.

  • Non-uniform day donations have raised over £175 for Edale Mountain Rescue. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Timetables for September

Student timetables will be shared via Arbor the week before students return to school.
