  • Headteacher's Update 3 July 2026

    Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to everyone who took part in or attended our Music and Mayhem event last Saturday. It was a fabulous day with excellent entertainment, delicious barbecue food and the much-anticipated truck pull! Our PTFA and volunteers did a great job organising the day – thank you to them all. Money raised from the event will go to our music department. There are lots of events happening in school over the next few weeks as we focus on some of our personal development curriculum with enrichment activities and work experience opportunities.

On Thursday, we welcomed current Y6 students who will be joining our school in September. They spent the day getting to know their tutors, trying a few lessons and finding their way around school. Thank you to our Pastoral Team for coordinating the day and to our newly selected Student Ambassadors for helping out throughout the day.

School was awash with colour today for non-uniform day and our Diversity party. Thank you to everyone who donated. Monies raised will go to Diversity charities.

Uniform for the remainder of term

A polite reminder that students are expected to be in uniform for the remaining weeks in school. We will email out arrangements for the last 3 days next week.  It is due to become warmer next week but fortunately not heatwave temperatures so our uniform will work well for this.

    What’s going on in school?

    • On Monday, students from across the four secondary schools in Chorus Trust came together at Silverdale School for the inaugural Chorus Maths Challenge. Each school entered two teams of four students, who competed in a series of collaborative mathematical challenges. The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to work together, tackle unfamiliar problems and enjoy some friendly competition with their peers from across the Trust. Congratulations to all the students who took part. They represented their schools brilliantly, and we are already looking forward to next year's Chorus Maths Challenge!

    • Well done to Tony in Y7 who built his own FM radio! Mrs Machan was very impressed with his handiwork.

    • Some of our Y10 Girls who are considering careers in science travelled to Liverpool University last week for their Girls into Electronics day. With functioning robots, complex coding and inspirational talks, the day gave the girls a real insight into careers in this field.

    Y8 PGL Trip

There will be a final meeting for all Y8 students attending this trip on Wednesday 8th July during tutor. Students should register first, then go to ICT 1.

    Water Safety

The following information regarding water safety has been shared with us by the RNLI:

With further heatwaves expected, more young people are heading to the water to cool off. Tragically, this brings a sharp rise in drownings. During May half-term alone, 19 people lost their lives – including 14 teenagers. Anyone can drown. No one should.

    WATER SAFETY CODE

    • Stop and think.
    • Stay together with a friend or family member.
    • If you’re in trouble in the water, Float to Live.
    • Call 999 if you see someone else in trouble in the water.
    • Also, encourage your young people to practice floating and to choose safer, supervised locations like lifeguarded beaches, swimming pools or lidos.
