Principal's update 28 March 2024
Published on 28/03/24
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for all your support this term. Although short, it has been very busy, with school productions, sporting fixtures, practical GCSE exams, poetry competitions, heart screening sessions, theatre trips, art trips, World Book Day and much more! Hopefully you can all enjoy a break over Easter. We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Monday 15 April.
What’s going on in school:
- A superb performance from our KS4 boys saw them beat Glossopdale 3-0 last night. A much bigger school with academy players and a superb 4G generation full-sized all-weather pitch were no match for the ability, teamwork, commitment and tenacity of the green and blacks. In eighteen years of coaching the KS4 teams this has to be the best ever result, the lads were rightly buzzing, although the full volume sing along on the journey home had to heard to be believed. Well done all.
- Hope Valley College students have just won the inter-schools bouldering competition at the Climbing Works in Sheffield for the second year in a row. After completing the qualifying round, six students went through to the finals and had to complete 13 boulder problems. The students climbed really well and finished in all top three places for males, the top place for females and the prize for overall team first place.
- Y7 students have been working hard on their class performances in music, whilst Y8 have been focusing on a Blues / Jazz / Rock n Roll project.
PE Activities after Easter
Y7, 8 and 9 boys will have athletics their first lesson of the week and cricket the second lesson of the week.
Y7, 8 and 9 girls will have rounders their first lesson of the week and athletics the second lesson of the week.
Y10 and 11 boys will be on cricket. Y10 and 11 girls will be on rounders.

White T shirt
Black jumper or rugby top
Waterproof jacket.
Activities Week – 8 – 12 July 2024
As the summer term approaches, we look forward to Activities week from 8-12 July. Year 10 will be on their Work Experience placement, and we are certain we will be proud of their achievements. KS3 have a number of different exciting events, such as our Starchaser Rocket Day and the Sponsored Walk. Y7 and Y9 have their residential trip to Caythorpe Court in Lincolnshire. It's lovely to see how many students have signed up for this - a reminder that the payments should be made via ParentPay. We are committed to support every child to access visits and trips, and to removing any barriers. If you feel you may need some support, please contact us at finance@hopevalley.chorustrust.org to discuss how we can help.
We are really looking forward to this exciting week for the students. Our students from Activities Week in 2023 certainly had a fabulous time.
